I've got an idea! I love this photo, mostly because it reminds me of the fun times I have had with one of my best friends, Sonia. While exploring Detroit, she came apon a lot of light bulbs and asked me to shoot a pic. The setting is so deep and gives the viewer so much to think about but the focus is on probably the most boring object of the photo, which really interests me.
I also took this photo while in Detroit but in a different school. I believe this was an elementary school, explaining the math book for the younger students. It is crazy for me to think about a school that used to function just like Skyline, now abandoned. All of the trash and forget homework on the rotting school floor, questions the photo in how the math book looks brand new and the objects around the book show how run down and worn out everything has gotten.
This is one of my favorite photos from this project. Also taken in Detroit, I love how the viewer can see the hallway and in the middle is the lone chair, that receives the color in the photo. Everything around it is demolished and ruined, the door window has been punched out, the light fixtures have fallen, the paint is peeling, and the lockers have fallen. This shows there are nice things in bad places. I think everything and everyone deserves a chance, just like these buildings in Detroit.
Tick tock, tick tock, time is counting down. This was also taken in Detroit, in a church school. The clock was resting on a rusted desk, that had been put there and from the photo, we can tell that the minute hand has fallen off. I liked how the outside has rusted but the inside of the clock has stayed mostly intact and could be fixed.
I also love this photo a lot aswell as the one with the chair in the hallway. I was walking down the street in Highland Park, and I glanced down and saw one yellow tulip in a field of dead grass infront of an abandoned motel. I stood there looking at this flower, as it was healthy and beautiful surrounding by destruction and forgotten buildings.
